Player Bio

Yudhvir Singh Charak, who barely has a First-Class and List-A experience under his belt, would be excited to rub shoulders with some of the greats of the game including Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, and Jasprit Bumrah in IPL 2021, as a 23-year-old. Yudhvir was picked by the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the mini-auction of IPL 2021 and will go on to ply his trade for the five-time champions in the upcoming edition.

Yudhvir’s professional cricketing journey only started in 2016 after his parents moved out from Rajouri district to their current residence in the Roop Nagar section of Jammu and Kashmir. However, he made his first-class debut for Hyderabad rather than his home state back in December 2019.

“I thought let me just play on my own terms rather than going by anybody’s say,” Yudhvir told Greater Kashmir from Hyderabad via phone on taking this offbeat decision.

Yudhvir is the only cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to make the cut in the IPL Auctions of 2021 and more importantly, he was picked by the Mumbai Indians. The pacer flew with the team to UAE last year as a net bowler and that is the reason why he thinks he was always under the radar for the five-time champions, despite others not considering him in the same breath as some other players.

“I did well in the nets there and followed it up with a good show in the Mushtaq Ali Trophy recently, so I was in the consideration of the team management,” he said.

He might only have a handful of T20 experience under his belt but the exposure which he will get in the upcoming edition will give him a huge boost going into the future. Yudhvir considers himself as a bowling all-rounder who can bowl at over 140 km/hr and chip in with some useful runs in the lower order.
