Player Bio

An 18-year-old, baby-faced fast-bowling all-rounder, Thomas Alex Ian Taylor made his first-class debut for Derbyshire in 2014. He shifted to Leicestershire, in 2018, before signing a surprising deal with Northamptonshire, two years later. He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler who bowls in the channel to work the batters, apart from hitting crucial runs down the order.

Born in Staffordshire, Tom Taylor started his cricketing career at the age-group level for Derby, before getting selected for the England Performance Programme in 2016. After that, Taylor was first picked by Leics to play eight first-class matches and claimed 32 wickets at 23.40, including his maiden 10-wicket haul.

The bowling all-rounder who is better seen as a pacer, with the red ball, has offered with the bat, in the shorter formats. In 2019, Taylor scored an unbeaten 98 not out from 56 balls in a Royal London game against Warwickshire. Despite growing as a player, after the conclusion of the 2020 season, the Staffordshire-born rejected a contract extension with the Leics to sign a three-year deal with Northamptonshire.

Taylor kick-started his career for the Northants with two-for and a 27-ball fifty to help his new side into the Vitality Blast quarter-finals. Over the years, Taylor has bettered his game with both bat and ball, to become a utility prospect, across all the formats.
