Player Bio

Sam Heazlett burst onto the scene Queensland Bulls after scoring 129 and 78 on debut early in the 2015-16 season. He suddenly found the attention and ended the season with 649 runs at 40.56. He is an attacking left-handed top-order batter who found his groove when represented Brisbane Heat at Big Bash level.

Born in Sunnybank, Heazlett is a product of Queensland’s age group system, before representing the Australian U-19 team. In his debut Shield season, he joined an enviable list as he had the third-best debut season of all time, just behind Matthew Hayden and Graeme Hick.

Later in 2016, the Redlands Cricket Club product had an impressive 'A' series in 2016 for the National Performance Squad, with an unprecedented average of 72 across five matches. His stakes got high as he was picked as a surprise replacement for Steven Smith for the tour of New Zealand in early 2017.

The southpaw has been part of the Heat franchise since the 2015–16 Big Bash League. Over the years, he became an integral part of the club, before signing a deal until the end of BBL|12, in 2021.

At 26, Heazlett is still very young and is a potential candidate to represent Australia across all formats. Away from the game, Heazlett is a keen surfer and is studying to become a physiotherapist.
