Player Bio

A product of the Middlesex Academy, Chris Wright is a right-arm fast bowler who currently plays for Leicestershire in the English County circuit. By 2011, Wright had already represented Middlesex, Tamil Union and Essex, and was tagged as a ‘Journeyman’.

Wright eventually joined Warwickshire in 2011 on a loan deal and made an instant impact, scalping two five-wicket hauls in his first three Championship matches. As a result, he was rewarded with a new three-year contract with the club.

The 2012 season was even better for Wright. He bagged 62 Division One wickets and was crucial in Warwickshire’s title-winning campaign that season. His performances eventually earned him a place in the England Performance Program. However, a stress fracture ruled him out of the 2013 domestic season and halted his progress.

After spending 8 seasons with Warwickshire, Wright decided to pursue a new challenge and was roped in by Leicestershire ahead of the 2019 Championship season.

Wright is one of the most important players to play for Warwickshire. He was the leader of the pace attack and was an important reason as to why Warwickshire won the Championship in 2012. Injuries have hampered his career and as a result, the Oxfordshire-born lost a considerable amount of pace towards the fag end of his career.
