Player Bio

An aggressive pacer and a talented lower-order batsman, Zak Chappell is a professional English cricketer who is one of the most recent players to have made the short journey from Grace Road(Leicester) to join Nottinghamshire. Chappell has represented England Lions on five occasions and is a graduate of the ECB's pace program.

Zak made his Championship debut in 2015 against Derbyshire and made his move to Nottinghamshire in October 2018, signing a three-year contract with the County side. Chappell took 16 wickets in the Specsavers County Championship and averaged more than 30 with the bat in his debut season. His impressive performances didn’t go under the radar, with call-ups to the Northside and the England Lions.

Chappell, who has been at the club since the winter of 2018, was the club's leading wicket-taker in the 2020 Bob Willis Trophy with 15 scalps. The 24-year-old was named emerging professional of the season in 2020, having taken in the new ball in the absence of senior squad members.

The paceman showed a knack for removing pedigree batsmen, with the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, and Keaton Jennings falling victim to his pace and hostility and has been attracting a lot of attention from the national selectors as well. In November 2020, all-rounder Chappell signed a contract extension with his County side which will see him at the club till the end of the 2022 season.
